Built for K-12 Chromebooks

Students only go where they have a pass.

Computer Hall Pass limits school Chromebooks to the websites your teachers approve — nothing else opens. Each grade level gets its own list, set by the people who actually teach them.

Supports your CIPA obligations · No student names or search terms collected · Set up in an afternoon

Filters block bad sites. That still leaves the whole internet.

Most school filters work by blocking a list of things you don't want. The list is never finished, and a curious eleven-year-old will always be faster than it. Computer Hall Pass works the other way around: nothing opens unless a teacher approved it.

✓

Approve, don't chase

Add the handful of sites a lesson actually needs. Everything else is closed by default — including everything nobody thought to block yet.

◑

Different rules per grade

Nursery, middle school, and high school each get their own approved list and their own schedule. One console, separate worlds.

◷

Class hours only

Set the window web access works. Outside it — evenings, weekends, study hall — devices lock themselves without anyone doing anything.

Set up in an afternoon

No servers to run, no images to re-flash, no per-device fiddling.

  1. We add your school to the console

You get an administrator login. Your teachers get their own logins, scoped to only the grade levels they teach.

  2. Your IT admin pushes the extension

One policy in your existing Google Admin console force-installs Computer Hall Pass to the Chromebooks you choose. Students can't remove it, and it survives a factory reset.

  3. Enroll the devices with a code

Enter a short code once per Chromebook to tie it to a grade level. The code carries no student information.

  4. Teachers manage their own lists

Adding a site for tomorrow's lesson takes about five seconds and doesn't require calling IT.

We built this to know as little as legally possible.

Monitoring software for children deserves more scrutiny than most software, not less. The safest student data is the data nobody ever collected — so we designed around collecting almost none of it.

✕
No student names, emails, or student IDs — students never even have accounts
✕
No search terms, ever. We don't see what a child typed
✕
No full web addresses — only the site name, like example.com
✕
Never sold, never used for advertising, never used to train AI models
✓
Blocked-attempt records auto-delete on a schedule you control
✓
Your data is walled off from every other school in the database itself
✓
Exportable records help demonstrate CIPA monitoring at E-Rate audit time
✓
Delete everything we hold, on request, whenever you ask

Talk to us

Chromebooks must be enrolled in your own Google Admin console to force-install any extension. That's a Google requirement for all Chromebook management software, not something we add — we'll walk you through it.

Questions schools ask

Can a student just turn it off?

Not when it's installed the way we set it up. Your IT admin force-installs it through your Google Admin console, which means it can't be removed from the device, and it comes back automatically even after a factory reset. That's why enrolled Chromebooks are a requirement rather than a suggestion.

What happens if your servers go down?

Devices keep enforcing the last set of rules they downloaded. A network problem on our end never turns a locked-down classroom Chromebook into an open browser — and neither does a billing issue. We consider unlocking devices over an unpaid invoice a safeguarding failure, not a collections tactic.

Can we allow Google search but not the bad parts of it?

Yes. You can allow Google with SafeSearch permanently forced on and image search blocked. Being straight with you: that stops the obvious routes, but no browser-based filter can promise a determined teenager will never reach anything inappropriate. Anyone claiming otherwise is overselling. For the strongest protection, pair us with network-level filtering.

Do teachers need to ask IT every time they need a site?

No — that's usually the thing schools most want fixed. Teachers get their own login scoped to the grade levels they teach, and can add a site themselves in a few seconds. They can't see or change another grade's settings.

Are you tracking our students?

We record that a blocked site was attempted, on which device, at what time — the site name only. We never receive student names, never receive search terms, and never receive full web addresses. Students don't have accounts in our system at all. Records auto-delete on the schedule you set.

Will this help with CIPA and E-Rate?

It supports two of the pieces: filtering, and demonstrable monitoring records. CIPA compliance also requires an adopted internet safety policy and public notice, which stay the school's responsibility. We're not able to make anyone "CIPA certified" — no vendor can, since that certification doesn't exist.

See it running on your own Chromebooks

Fifteen minutes. We'll set up a pilot on a handful of devices so you can watch it work before anyone signs anything.
